A LIST OF OUR FAVOURITE MUSIC VIDEO DIRECTORS IN AFRICA

The Gold Axis team got together and we drew up a list of our favourite videographers from all the over the African continent. These were the directors and videographers who have been apart of creating some of the best music videos on the continent for our favourite artists and songs. 

Here is our list of our 6 favourite videographers on the continent 

• Meji Alabi

Nigerian born and London-based director and photographer Meji Alabi bridges the gap between African and Western markets, across a range of visual mediums including music video, photography, advertising campaigns, magazine editorials, and artist branding.As co-founder of Lagos-based creative production company JM Films, Meji worked with Beyoncé on the artist’s 2020 ‘Black is King’ video project. Other recent projects include the remote-directed ‘Monsters You Made’ for Burna Boy ft. Chris Martin.

• Santi

The only director on our list who is also a full time artist/musician, Santi's signature ''vodoo'' inspired visuals have made him one of the most distinct styles in the game. The leader of the Alte movement coming out of Nigeria has been directing all of his visuals from the begining of his career and in 2019 he got the chance to direct the amazing video for Goldlink's song ''U Say''. He is one of the best all round creatives on the continent and we can't wait to see how he returns to the game this year with new music and visuals.

• Clarence Abiodun Peters

Clarence Peters is a Nigerian music video director, filmmaker and cinematographer. He is the founder and CEO of Capital Dream Pictures, a production company that specialises in the realms of the performing arts, film and video. He has worked with everyone from Burna Boy to Olamide and Tiwa Savage and has a career that spans almost a decade. He is one of the best directors on the continent

• Director Mo

Over the last 3 years Director Mo has risen to become one of the best music directors in Botswana. He has directed some of the best visuals in the country and has worked with everyone from BanT to William Last KRM with their last video together reaching 2 million views. 

• TG Omori

TG Omori, also known as Boy Director is a Nigerian music video director and cinematographer. TG Omori has directed music videos for recording artists across various genres of new generation, includes Olamide, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tekno, Kiss Daniel, Fireboy DML, Falz, Timaya, Naira Marley, and many others.

• Kyle Lewis

If there is any one way to capture Kyle in a few words it’s this: Kyle Lewis tears ‘normal’ up. From slick big brand commercials to gritty music videos, Kyle brings his unique instincts and flair for youth culture to every project he takes on. The South African director has worked with everyone from Nasty C, Riky Rick to Cassper Nyovest and is one of the best directors in the country.
