As the release of AKA's highly anticipated album "Mass Country" draws near, the South African rap icon finds himself at a crossroads in his illustrious career. AKA's last full-length studio album "Touch My Blood" came out in 2018 and the critically acclaimed project remains one of the biggest records in his discography. His second album "Levels" is also widely regarded as a classic, having changed the sound of South African hip hop. However, every artist who has been at the top for a while must face creative blocks and low moments, but it is in these trials that legends are made. The true test of an artist's ability is their ability to pick themselves up and revitalize their craft, a rite of passage that AKA is now facing.
Between 2018 and now, the Supa Mega released two projects - the mixtape "Bhovamania" and an EP with Costa Titch - that were met with mixed reviews and left some fans disappointed. The COVID-19 pandemic and the loss of his fiancé added further challenges to AKA's creative process. However, even in the darkest moments, great art can be born. The Supa Mega's comeback single "Lemons" featuring Nasty C was a testament to this, as he once again captured the hearts of fans with his music. The subsequent release of "Prada" featuring Khuli Chana further solidified AKA's place at the top, leaving fans eagerly awaiting the release of "Mass Country."
