2023 Belongs to Ch'cco: On The Verge of Superstardom

Over the past two years, Ch'cco has established himself as a rising star in the genre of Amapiano. But we believe 2023 is set to be his biggest year yet.

I first encountered Ch'cco's music in early 2021 while browsing Soundcloud, and it was immediately apparent that he possessed a unique talent. His page was filled with captivating R&B cuts, which can still be found on his Soundcloud page today and I hope it remains as a testament to his early work. Despite the fact that the music wasn't mixed to perfection, it was clear that Ch'cco had an abundance of potential.

A few months later, Ch'cco teamed up with Amapiano super producers Mellow & Sleazy to release the hit song Nkao Tempela, which cemented his place in the genre. He closed out the year with two standout guest features on Kelvin Momo's critically acclaimed album "Ivy League" solidifying his status as a force to be reckoned with.

Instead of capitalizing on his early success, Ch'cco made the strategic decision to take a step back in the first half of 2022. This approach, which prioritizes moving at one's own pace rather than being driven by external factors, allows for focus and clarity, and helps to avoid getting lost in the fast-paced music industry. During this time, Ch'cco dedicated himself to honing his craft and refining his vision, which ultimately set the stage for an even bigger breakout in 2023.

Ch'cco's decision paid off in spades when he returned to the scene with the instant hit "Pele Pele," featuring Focalistic and Mellow & Sleazy. He continued to solidify his status as a hit-maker with his feature on Pabi Cooper's "Banyana Ke Bafana" which came out earlier in the year.

As we stand, Ch'cco is ready to dominate the year and cement his place in the music industry. His first project since his rise to stardom is highly anticipated, and it will be a make or break moment for the artist. The energy and excitement surrounding him currently positions him to become one of the biggest artists in South Africa in 2023. Here at The Gold Axis, we can't wait to see how far he takes it.
